Blended Intrinsic Maps
نویسنده
چکیده
The paper proposes a fully automatic approach for finding a mapping between two nonisometric surfaces. The approach is to blend low-dimensional conformal maps with weights varying smoothly over the surface. The advantage of the approach is that it can handle a wide variety of deformations while keeping the search space of the possible maps polynomial. The paper first details how to find candidate conformal maps. Second, it defines the smooth blending weights that reflect the area preservation of a map at every point p. Then, a global optimisation problem of finding which candidate maps to blend is solved using their area preservation and consistency measures. Experimental results show that the proposed approach produces better surface matchings than alternative approaches over variety of data sets.

The Implementation of Self-Determination Theory on the Opportunities and Challenges for Blended e-Learning in Motivating Egyptian Logistic Learners
Learner motivation is considered to be an important component for the Blended e-Learning (BL) Method. BL is an effective learning method in multiple domains, which opens several opportunities for its participants to engage in the learning environment. This research explores the learners’ perspective of BL according to the Self-Determination Theory (SDT). It identifies the opportunities and chal...
متن کاملSegmentation by Blended Partitional Clustering for Different Color Spaces
This paper presents a new segmentation strategy, based on a blended procedure whose goal is to combine several segmentation maps in order to finally get a more reliable and accurate segmentation result. The fusion strategy aims at combining these segmentation maps with a final clustering procedure using as input features, the local histogram of the class labels, previously estimated and associa...
متن کاملProposal of Blended Orientation of Scientific Works by Comparison Face-to-Face and Online Processes
The execution of academic researches – such as Undergraduate work, Master’s or PhD Thesis – is often supervised by a research advisor. The development process of such works could be characterized as face-to-face, remote or blended orientation, which combines both of former ones. The construction of a proposal for blended academic orientation involves mapping and analysis of elements, as well as...

This paper explores the design of a blended learning environment in a transition from face-to-face and seeks to determine whether learner characteristics and background together with blended learning design elements are significant factors for learning outcomes such as intrinsic motivation, satisfaction, knowledge construction and learning performance in blended learning. It is aimed at examini...
متن کاملSmall Wins Approach to Changing Minds about Blended Learning
Although blended learning offers many potential benefits to students and institutions, there is still some resistance from faculty. Change management is especially difficult in university settings due to issues related to faculty governance. The “small-wins” approach to change management advocates undertaking a series of limited, concrete projects that bring about moderately-important outcomes....
